They can be 1mm thick and are generally inserted to up to one-quarter of an inch into our skin. To increase the impact of the 10 minutes or more (up to 60 minutes, sometimes) treatment, electricity may also be used to make the needles vibrate and impact the meridian points. The key here is to remove the two blockages varieties – excess qi or not enough qi issues. It is important that the practitioners are familiar with the relevant meridian points for treatment because different meridian points need to be stimulated for different illnesses.
