Acupuncture Allergy?
Can it be said that there is acupuncture allergy? Or is it an allergy to the needles used? Or, can acupuncture be used to cure allergy like sensitive nose or food allergies? It is a little difficult to say since everybody's body structure is different.
Acupuncture – What is this Ancient Science About?
Acupuncture is a technique in which very thin needles of varying lengths are inserted through the skin. The basic premise is that qi flows through the human body, and any blockages in this qi or some people even call it chi flow will result in illnesses and poor health.
Acupuncture and Its Origin
It is interesting to note that acupuncture was introduced from China to Japan and Korea since the pre-historic age. It was widely used in these cultures. However, it was only in the 17th century that it was brought to Europe. For the U.S., due to President Nixon’s diplomatic visit to China in 1970, it was thus introduced to the United States.
As we know, the blockages of chi or life energy along the meridians make us feel ill or less than well. To counter this, the acupuncture therapy uses the rebalancing of these energy points through stimulation of these points with needles. These needles are twirled or made to vibrate for some minutes up to an hour. Further, it is possible not to use needles in acupuncture. an additional form of stimulation is laser-acupuncture and the basic digitpuncture.
Needles Used in Acupuncture
Since the meridian points are minute, large needles cannot be used. Or else, it will not be precise, and it may hurt our body. Hence, very fine needles are used. They can be 1mm thick and are generally inserted to up to one-quarter of an inch into our skin. To increase the impact of the 10 minutes or more (up to 60 minutes, sometimes) treatment, electricity may also be used to make the needles vibrate and impact the meridian points. The key here is to remove the two blockages varieties – excess qi or not enough qi issues. It is important that the practitioners are familiar with the relevant meridian points for treatment because different meridian points need to be stimulated for different illnesses.
How Does People Feel About the Treatment?
People do not feel any discomfort when the needles are inserted and many find acupuncture soothing. It is possible to affect several meridians at one time, and sometimes, as many as two to twenty needles can be used.
Acupuncture is something women struggling to conceive really should consider. Acupuncture has proved to be helpful for patients trying to overcome addictions such as smoking and alcohol too. Acupuncture has also proved effective as a treatment for several other specific symptoms or conditions like arthritis.
Acupuncture and Energy Blockages…
Blockages along the meridian pathways in our body are the cause of imbalances and disease. Generally, the body, arms and legs are poked during treatment. However, during an acupuncture facial treatment really small needles are used to stimulate circulation and boost collagen. Patients do require intermittent follow up in order to maintain a result. It is also possible to modify nerve impulses to the spinal cord and brain.
People Feel Worse After Acupuncture?
Some people may think that acupuncture does not work for them. The reason is because they actually feel worse after the treatment. The key is to persist with the treatment so that the full impact of the treatment can be felt. Most people will find acupuncture helpful thereafter.
It is also interesting to know that people have also used acupuncture for losing weight in addition to other illnesses like arthritis, migraine, depression and so on. Still, right at the very foundation or core of it all, acupuncture is about moving blocked energy in the body so that we stay healthy.
All in all, acupuncture does help with allergies such as itchy nose, food sensitivity and other illnesses. But, are you game is the question?
